Recipe for Fun!
Tape a piece of clear contact paper on the window with the sticky side away from the glass, facing the child. Then have kids pick up individual items and stick them to the contact paper.
Benefits:
- Increase Core strength. Placing the pieces on the floor encourages children to squat down to grab and reach up to place.
- Develop eye-hand coordination. This is important in linking the brain with movement. This helps with tasks like tying your shoes and prepares kids for success in reading and writing.
- Follow multi-step directions to hone kids’ working memory. This skill is necessary to complete daily activities, like getting dressed or brushing teeth. It helps kids attend to detail, process the task and execute in sequential order.
Modifications:
- For children who use wheelchairs, place the sticky paper on a tabletop easel on their wheelchair tray.
