Recipe for Fun!

For the whole family, this is a great activity to plan for when the weather keeps you indoors for the day or night!

STEP 1: Make a list of signs you would see at a movie theater. Suggestions include: Name of Movie, Ticket Counter, Admit One Tickets, Popcorn, Candy, Drinks and more.

STEP 2: Depending upon the children’s ages, either write the words on the large paper for the children to color or have them design the signs themselves.

STEP 3: In addition to words, have them draw pictures to convey the words, I.e., tickets, popcorn, large drink cups, etc.

STEP 4: Hang or prop the signs around your house that will lead the way to the theater.

STEP 5: On smaller paper, make tickets and have your children safely cut them out individually.

STEP 6: Create your darkened movie theater by building a fort in your family room, covering the couch and chairs with large sheets and blankets. Add pillows and blankets to sit on for comfort.

STEP 7: Don’t forget to include the TV and/or DVD player and screen in the fort.

STEP 8: Check the movie start time and get everyone in their “seat” to enjoy the show!
